Job Summary

AmeriLife is building a modern, employee-first communications function, and we’re looking for a highly organized communicator with a strong quality-control mindset to help shape it.

As our Employee Communications Manager, you’ll be an editor and meticulous proofreader who naturally spots inconsistencies, catches gaps and thinks a step ahead. You’ll help ensure employee communications are clear, accurate, and distinctly human while managing the channels, calendars and workflows that keep our communications program moving.

This role is equal parts editor, channel manager, connector and proactive quality‑control partner. You’ll build relationships across AmeriLife, stay curious about what’s happening across the business, and turn those connections into stronger communications and stories.

You’ll also be comfortable using AI and emerging tools to work smarter while applying editorial judgment to make sure anything we publish is accurate, authentic and sounds like us.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Content, Editing & Quality Assurance
  • Serve as a proactive quality‑control checkpoint for employee communications, reviewing for accuracy, consistency, completeness, links, dates, audiences, channel requirements and alignment with approved source materials.
  • Edit, proofread and conduct final quality checks on newsletters, emails, intranet content and other employee communications before distribution, ensuring accuracy and a clear, engaging and consistent voice.
  • Review communications in context, identifying gaps, conflicting information, and potential employee questions before distribution.
  • Use AI and emerging tools thoughtfully to improve efficiency and quality while ensuring final content is natural, audience‑appropriate and free of formulaic or generic AI language.
  • Build relationships across the business to uncover stories and content that connect employees to AmeriLife’s mission, strategy and culture.
Channel & Workflow Management
  • Own the Employee Communications calendar and tracker as the team’s source of truth for planned communications, deadlines, channel activity and status, using it proactively to anticipate needs and move work forward.
  • Maintain a cross‑channel view across email, newsletters, intranet, digital screens and other channels to support thoughtful sequencing, cadence and a cohesive employee experience.
  • Own assigned communications from handoff through completion, including tracking deadlines and next steps, coordinating stakeholder reviews, facilitating approvals and distribution, and proactively escalating blockers.
  • Partner with HR, IT, Finance & Accounting and other teams to coordinate effective employee communications.
  • Maintain key channel operations, including intranet updates, distribution lists, facilities/event communications and the employee story bank.
  • Monitor and manage AmeriLife’s employer brand presence on Glassdoor, Indeed and similar platforms.
Platforms, Engagement & Analytics
  • Support implementation and adoption of new internal communications platforms and practices, including developing guides and resources for users.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and promote AmeriLife Gives Back Foundation and community/volunteer efforts through internal channels and storytelling.
  • Track and analyze channel performance, identify meaningful trends and recommend improvements to content, cadence and channel strategy.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in internal/employee communications, corporate communications, journalism, publishing or content management.
  • Strong editing, proofreading, quality‑control and planning skills, with demonstrated ability to manage concurrent deliverables, deadlines, stakeholders and approval processes.
  • Experience with intranet platforms, email/newsletter systems and collaboration tools such as Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, Viva Engage and Workday.
  • Working knowledge of Canva and ability to independently create polished, on‑brand visual content using our established brand kits, templates and assets.
  • Comfortable using AI and emerging technologies to support communications workflows while applying strong editorial judgment and quality control.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret engagement data and turn insights into recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, English, marketing or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders in a large or matrixed organization.
  • Experience launching or scaling internal communications platforms.
What You’ll Bring
  • A proactive, quality‑first mindset: You notice what others miss, anticipate next steps, and follow work through to completion.
  • A genuine interest in people: You enjoy connecting with colleagues, building relationships and learning what’s happening across the business.
  • Sound judgment: You know when to ask questions, when to raise a concern, when to flex and when to hold to established standards.
  • Curiosity and adaptability: You’re comfortable experimenting with new tools and approaches and can adjust to an evolving environment.
  • A human communication style: You’re a clear communicator with a sense of humor and an appreciation for the people on the receiving end of every message.
