Position Overview

Armstrong Teasdale LLP is seeking a lateral associate with expertise in employee benefits and executive compensation to join its Corporate Services Group. The associate will be based in one of our offices: Chicago, Denver, Kansas City, New York City, Philadelphia, St. Louis, or Washington, DC. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience reviewing employee benefit plans, agreements, and compensation programs for merger and acquisition transactions, and assisting in the design, implementation, and advisory of such programs for businesses and organizations of various sizes and structures.

Associates will work closely with experienced legal practitioners in a friendly, cooperative environment.

Essential Functions
  • Simultaneously handles the high‑level and strategic aspects of multiple legal matters at different stages of progression, from inception to conclusion.
  • Possesses strong attention to detail and good interpersonal skills for communicating with attorneys and clients.
  • Demonstrates an ability to work independently and productively and shows a strong interest in advancing a career in Corporate Services.
  • Produces quality legal work and bills the required number of hours to ensure excellent client service.
  • Manages business and generates business through group and individual efforts.
  • Complies with the very highest ethical standards of the legal profession.
Qualifications
  • Education: Juris Doctor.
  • Licenses: Licensed to practice law in good standing in one or more jurisdictions where the Firm conducts business; must maintain applicable license renewal and CLE requirements.
  • Preferred Experience: 5+ years of experience assisting in designing, implementing, and advising on employee benefits plans, executive plans, and other transactional work; substantial experience drafting and reviewing sophisticated corporate documents. Prior experience at a law firm is preferred.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Indirect authority – actively utilizes support staff or junior associates to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Physical Activity: The employee will be required to sit (or utilize a standing desk) for prolonged periods and work on a computer.
  • Travel: Less than 10%.
