Summary and relationship to the curriculum: All classified positions will strengthen the delivery of instruction to support the District mission statement. This position serves to support District employees and the Human Resources department regarding matters pertaining to employee benefits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as the District contact for processing all leave related to Paid Parental Leave, Extended Disability Leave, Family Medical Leave, and disability related matters. Communicates leave procedures to district employees and prepares reports as needed.
  • Manages the balancing of benefit related accounts.
  • Participates in new employee on-boarding, open enrollment meetings and assists in processing required paperwork.
  • Assists with routine processing, filing and organization of benefits related information and materials.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with other employees and visitors in the Human Resources Department.
  • Processes death claims with life insurance carrier.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

  • Education and/or Experience: High school diploma required; three years clerical experience and/or associates degree preferred.

  • Language Skills: Must have ability to read and comprehend job specific technical information, simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and position specific manuals. Must have ability to write correspondence and reports. Must have ability to effectively articulate and present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Mathematical Skills: Must have ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions, and decimals. Must have ability to conduct position related data analysis. Must have ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Must be able to facilitate the problem solving processes. Must have ability to synthesize workable options from given facts, and assist in the development of workable solutions.
  • Technical Ability: Must have considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office and other job specified technologies.
  • Customer Service Skills: Must be able to interact effectively with colleagues, administrators, teachers, staff members, students using tactful yet effective skills. Must collaborate well with others and display a cooperative attitude. Must be service oriented and actively seek ways to assist others.
