Employee Benefits and Leave Specialist

Location: St. Louis County, MO

Schedule: Monday–Friday | Full-Time

PEG Staffing & Recruiting is seeking an Employee Benefits and Leave Specialist for this direct hire opportunity with our esteemed client located in St. Louis County, MO (with opportunity to work remotely at least 1x/week). If you’re detail-oriented, thrive in a collaborative environment, and have a passion for supporting employees through benefit and leave processes, this could be the right opportunity for you.

This role is responsible for managing all aspects of leave administration while providing support for employee benefits programs. You’ll serve as a key point of contact for leave-related inquiries and help ensure compliance with all applicable policies and regulations.

What You’ll Do:

Leave Administration

  • Serve as the primary contact for employees regarding leave requests, including FMLA, parental, long-term disability, and paid/unpaid leave.
  • Guide employees through their leave options and clarify how benefits are affected.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation for all leave cases.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local leave regulations.
  • Process and monitor leave requests using an HRIS system.
  • Create and maintain resources, training materials, and quick reference guides for leave processes.

Benefits Administration

  • Support the administration of health, dental, vision, life, and retirement plans.
  • Respond to employee benefits-related inquiries with clarity and professionalism.
  • Manage benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations while ensuring data accuracy.
  • Collaborate with providers and brokers to resolve claims and carrier file issues.
  • Serve as a resource for internal business partners regarding benefits processes.

General Support

  • Assist with scheduling and documentation for the Benefits Committee.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee data with care.
  • Generate reports on leave usage and benefits metrics for leadership.
  • Support audits, wellness programs, and benefits-related communication.
  • Keep internal and external benefits resources up to date.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and regulatory changes impacting benefits.

What You’ll Need:

  • 5+ years of leave administration experience for a large organization required.
  • 2+ years of experience in HR, benefits, and HRIS systems.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
