Job summary

University at Buffalo invites applications for a senior faculty position at the associate/full professor level in experimental condensed matter physics. The appointment carries the SUNY Empire Innovation Professor title and aligns with the AQuIRE initiative in quantum science and technology.

The successful candidate will lead an externally funded program in quantum sensing and related areas. Ideal candidates have a strong publication and funding record, engage in teaching and mentoring, and

Qualifications

PhD in Physics or related discipline.
Scholarly profile appropriate to rank.
Proven ability to secure external funding and manage research programs.
Strong teaching experience at undergraduate and graduate levels, with mentoring.
Nationally/internationally recognized scholar with strong collaborations.

Responsibilities

Lead an externally funded research program in quantum sensing and related areas.
Advance the department's strengths in quantum materials, quantum optics, and quantum information.
Contribute to teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels and mentor students.
Foster interdisciplinary collaboration across campus, government labs, and industry.
