Job summary

Westford Public Schools’ Educational Support Professional (ESP) supports students with and without special needs, partnering with teachers to deliver inclusive instruction, implement accommodations, and monitor progress.

The role includes one-on-one or small-group support, behavior management, record-keeping, and ensuring confidentiality. A high school diploma is required; additional training and empathy for diverse learners are valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; advanced education preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and ability to relate to students, staff and families.
• Understanding of the needs of students with disabilities.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Commitment to confidentiality and training participation.
• Willingness to participate in behavior management training.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support one-on-one or in small groups.
• Assist students with completing assignments and activities.
• Implement teacher-directed strategies and accommodations.
• Utilize assistive technology and other supports as directed.
• Read tests aloud, take notes, and provide accommodations.
• Help students develop organizational and study skills.
• Support positive behavior and classroom safety.
