Job summary

Toyota North America is seeking a passionate certification engineer for the Powertrain & Compliance Department in the Ann Arbor area. The role focuses on managing emission testing programs, coordinating lab activities, and guiding technicians in certification and in-use testing.

Responsibilities include data analysis, reporting to government agencies, and coordinating vehicle procurement for testing. Travel may be required domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years engineering experience; co-op/internship considered.
• Experience in Emissions/Fuel Economy development or certifications.
• Understanding of emissions/fuel economy performance and testing procedures.
• Proficiency in internal combustion engine theory and engine control systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage annual and weekly test plans for Certification and In-use Emission testing.
• Coordinate NA-based test labs in Los Angeles and Denver for in-use testing and vehicle procurement.
• Oversee resources: financial, personnel, and facilities for emission testing.
• Provide technical direction in certification and in-use testing to technicians.
• Identify and follow up on certification testing issues.
