Job summary

Toyota North America is seeking a certification engineer to oversee light-duty vehicle emission and fuel economy certification and in-use testing. You will collaborate with global teams, plan testing activities, and supervise NA-based labs to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.

Reporting to the Powertrain Certification & Compliance team, you will guide technicians, analyze results, coordinate vehicle procurement, and contribute to continuous improvement through new testing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years engineering experience; co-op/internship experience considered.
• Experience in Emissions/Fuel Economy Development or certifications.
• Understanding of Emissions/Fuel Economy performance and testing procedures.
• Proficient understanding of Internal Combustion engine theory and practice, and engine control system operation.
• Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools such as MS Project/Excel.
• Willingness to work overtime up to 20% and ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Oversee light-duty emissions certification and in-use testing.
• Manage annual and weekly test plans and scheduling for Certification and In-use Emission testing.
• Coordinate off-site NA-based test labs in Los Angeles and Denver for in-use testing and vehicle procurement.
• Provide technical direction to test technicians and review results for compliance.
• Analyze and verify emissions data and generate technical reports for government agencies.
• Coordinate vehicle procurement and maintain vendor relationships for testing.
• Develop new procedures and tools for certification-related testing and data analysis.
