Job summary

Amphenol Aerospace Operations in Sidney, NY is seeking a Design Engineer (Filters) to design electrical filter connectors and provide guidance for mechanical interconnect components and TVS devices.

Responsibilities include creating drawings, coordinating with production, customers, and vendors, and troubleshooting connector assemblies while ensuring compliance with aerospace standards. The role requires collaboration with BD and Product teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical design or design engineering preferred but not required.
• Understanding of electrical component design including capacitors, inductors, MOVs, TVS devices.
• Familiarity with soldering processes and solder joint failure modes.
• Knowledge of DO-160, MIL-DTL-38999, MIL-DTL-26482, MIL-DTL-83723 and EIA 364 testing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares designs, drawings, and specifications and assists in layouts.
• Interfaces with departments to support testing and troubleshooting.
• Interfaces with customers and vendors to ensure conformance to specs.
• Coordinates manufacturing of customer prototypes.
• Troubleshoots electrical faults in connector assemblies.
• Maintains knowledge of EMI filters and TVS device testing.
• Processes estimate requests and marketing product requests.
• Reviews customer documents for compliance and updates designs as needed.
• Keeps supervision informed of activity status.
• Collaborates with Business Development and Product Managers.
