Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a part-time electrodiagnostic technician to perform EMG and nerve conduction studies, prepare the electrodiagnostic laboratory, and assist physicians in diagnostic procedures at Rhode Island Hospital. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences or equivalent.
  • Ability to monitor graphic recordings and observe clinical phenomena.
  • Technical ability to set up testing equipment and reduce interference.
  • Knowledge of diseases, muscle and nerve anatomy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review requests for electrodiagnostic tests and plan laboratory schedule.
  • Prepare lab and interview patients to obtain history and consent.
  • Set up and calibrate testing equipment and apply surface electrodes.
  • Perform EMG and nerve conduction studies and record data for physician review.
  • Maintain records and assist teaching of medical students.
  • Maintain lab equipment and procure supplies.
