Supervises customer service associates and designated hitters. Responsible for managing the front end of the store and making recommendations on the overall operations of the Pharmacy and Retail Store.
Supports Store Manager with the overall operation of the store to achieve company deliverables; works alternate schedule with the Store Manager with minimal overlap; assumes responsibilities of all store activities in the absence of the Store Manager. Ensures proper merchandising, protection of store assets, and improves store sales and profitability.
Leads and manages store team members, including recruitment, hiring, performance management, and discipline of direct reports to ensure teams are engaged and responsible for their duties.
Customer Experience
- Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer complaints promptly and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience. Shares customer service best practices.
- Monitors customer service, provides coaching, training, and develops improvement plans for both front-end and pharmacy teams. Empowers team members to find impactful resolutions, exceeding customer expectations and building loyalty.
- Accountable for improving overall customer service metrics.
Operations
- Supervises store operations and team activities, including task delegation, shift management, and scheduling to ensure proper coverage.
- Collaborates with external partners to support community outreach and store initiatives.
- Supports data analysis and decision-making processes with the Store Manager.
- Manages cash handling, inventory, store cleanliness, safety, and compliance with laws and policies.
Business Performance Management
- Analyzes financial and performance data to support business goals.
- Uses KPIs and other tools to drive store improvements and growth initiatives.
- Supports Pharmacy operations during busy periods, including serving as a pharmacy technician if necessary.
People & Performance Management
- Leads and trains team members, manages performance, and develops talent pipelines.
- Handles recruitment, onboarding, and legal compliance related to staffing.
- Establishes accountability and performance standards.
Training & Personal Development
- Completes required training programs and certifications.
- Engages in self-development and maintains a personal development plan.
- Obtains and maintains a valid pharmacy technician license if required.
Communications
- Maintains open communication with team through meetings and discussions.
- Assists in planning and communicating store strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, or completion of Walgreens internship; or high school diploma/GED with supervisory experience.
- Leadership skills, business ethics, motivation, and communication skills.
- Completion of Store Manager training (LEAP) or willingness to complete within 12 weeks.
- Fluent in English; flexible schedule; willing for promotion and relocation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Management experience, including supervising others, ideally in retail or food industry.
