Job summary

KIPP Capital Region Public Schools seeks an Assistant Principal to drive academic outcomes as part of the school leadership team. The AP will lead instruction, coach teachers, and develop emergent leaders to eventually lead a KIPP school.

This role emphasizes equity, anti-racism, and high expectations across KIPP’s seven-school network. The AP will coordinate curricula, assess performance, and support professional development while managing school operations and building a strong school culture

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred from an accredited College or University.
• 3+ years of teaching experience in K-12.
• 2+ years of experience managing and/or coaching K-12 teachers.
• Active New York teaching certification or ability to seek reciprocity from another state, preferred.
• Preferred experience working directly with students in charter/private/public school environments.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule outside regular business hours.
• Aptitude to create and work within an inclusive environment that honors and supports a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives.

Responsibilities

• Supports the School Leader in creating a positive, structured, disciplined school culture and ensuring rigorous student learning experiences.
• Coaches teachers, observes instruction, provides actionable feedback, and supports professional development.
• Develops leadership among emerging school leaders (Department Heads and Grade Level Chairs).
• Leads planning and goal setting for coaches and ensures alignment with school-wide goals.
• Supports data-driven instruction and use of assessments to inform instruction and student mastery.
• Lead or coach department/content/grade-level meetings and professional development initiatives.
