Job summary

JCVI in California's La Jolla campus seeks a mid-level scientific leader to initiate and conduct innovative research aligned with JCVI's strategic goals. The role involves leading projects, developing grant proposals as PI or co-PI, and guiding team members across a range of scientific disciplines. The successful candidate will publish regularly, supervise staff, ensure safety protocols, and advance environmental health and safety.

A Ph.D. or M.D.

Qualifications

• Candidates must hold an M.D. or Ph.D. in a relevant field such as Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Neuroscience or Computer Science.
• Minimum of three years post-doctoral experience performing duties similar to the above.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise staff.
• Strong discretion for confidential work and information.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to research projects with minimal supervision.
• Contribute to writing proposals to obtain grant/contract funding.
• Design and execute experiments; analyze results.
• Train and supervise staff and students.
• Present at scientific meetings and publish findings.
• Ensure safety and environmental compliance.
