Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories seeks an early-career R&D Analyst to support DOE and DoD national security programs. The role involves physics-based analysis, modeling, simulation, test interpretation, and threat engineering across shock physics and lethality studies.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, develop tooling, interpret results, and contribute to briefings for program leadership. A DOE Q-level clearance or ability to obtain one is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of directly relevant education and experience.
• Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical analyses in shock physics, hydro-structural interactions, high-rate structural mechanics, and lethality/vulnerability evaluations.
• Learn and apply modeling, simulation, test, and analysis approaches for national defense needs.
• Support computational analyses using physics-based tools and post-processing methods.
• Develop scripts and workflows to evaluate and visualize results.
• Collaborate with experimental, computational, and programmatic partners to assess performance and risks.
• Prepare briefings, reports, and recommendations for internal teams and customers.
• Contribute to threat engineering efforts to understand current and emerging threats.
