Job summary

Sacramento State is seeking an Assistant Program Advisor Trainee, Leadership to support student involvement, leadership development, and programming under the Leadership Program Coordinator and close supervision. Qualifications

• Knowledge of the basic principles of individual and group behavior and the ability to apply that knowledge when supporting student leaders, student organizations, and students with differing needs, experiences, and perspectives.
• Knowledge of research and observation techniques for the purpose of recording, classifying, and interpreting factual information.
• Knowledge of the techniques and methods of interviewing and advising to understand student needs, clarify concerns, provide accurate information, and help students identify appropriate options and next steps.
• Ability to gather and analyze data; reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate program improvements for student programs, workshops, events, and leadership-development initiatives.
• Ability to participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences and interviews.
• Ability to clearly express ideas and recommendations orally, to write clear and concise reports, and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and faculty.
• Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty, students, staff, and members of the community.
