Job summary

BGE, Inc. is seeking a Junior Electrical Power Engineer in Austin, TX to support electrical engineering solutions for energy services projects.

You will assist on power-focused tasks, work under senior staff, prepare calculations and drawings, and help deliver safe, reliable energy systems. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university required.
• Must have passed or be eligible to sit for the FE exam by the time of graduation.
• 0 to 2 years of electrical engineering experience; internships, co-ops, undergraduate research, or capstone work related to energy services, power systems, or engineering consulting preferred.
• Exposure to power distribution, low- and medium-voltage systems, grounding, backup power, lighting, and electrical infrastructure design.
• Familiarity with NEC/NFPA, IEEE, ANSI, IEC and utility requirements; willingness to learn to apply them under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist with electrical engineering design and production of deliverables for energy services projects, including utility infrastructure and power distribution.
• Prepare low- and medium-voltage design documents under a senior engineer, including diagrams and load calculations.
• Support power system studies by building models and tabulating results for senior review.
• Learn utility coordination and grid interconnection requirements for service entrance design and switchgear interfaces.
• Draft reports, calculations, specifications, and construction documents for senior engineer review.
• Perform self-checks and assist with quality control reviews to ensure codes and project scope compliance.
• Assist with RFIs, submittals, and client meetings alongside a senior engineer.
