Job summary

The law firm in Boston, New York or San Francisco is seeking an Emerging Companies / VC Associate to join a small, high‑visibility team. You will work hybrid, advising startups and growth companies through formation to exit, and manage venture financings from term sheet to closing.

Mid-level associates gain early responsibility, direct client relationships, and visible progression to partners in a collaborative environment. A background in emerging companies or venture capital is ideal.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years' post-qualification experience at a US law firm.
• Experience in venture financings or emerging companies or general corporate work.
• M&A experience is a plus for this Emerging Companies / VC Associate - Legal hire.
• Admission to practise in the relevant state, or eligibility to waive in or sit soon.
• Confidence handling clients directly and an appetite for ownership.

Responsibilities

• Advising start-ups and growth-stage businesses across their life cycle, from formation through to exit.
• Running venture financings for companies and investors, from term sheet to closing.
• Acting as day-to-day outside general counsel on governance, equity incentives and commercial points.
• Supporting M&A exits and strategic transactions alongside senior colleagues.
• Managing closing processes, cap table matters and diligence with a high degree of autonomy.
• Building your own relationships with founders, funds and in-house teams.

Overview

We are partnering with a highly regarded, full-service US law firm that is adding headcount to its emerging companies and venture capital practice on the back of genuine growth and new client work. They are hiring an Emerging Companies / VC Associate - Legal to join a deliberately small team in Boston, New York or San Francisco, working hybrid. The group gives mid-level associates early responsibility, direct client relationships and a clear line of sight to partners, so your development is visible and your work is noticed.

• Confidence handling clients directly and an appetite for ownership

What's on offer

• Indicative base salary of USD $235,000 - $365,000 depending on class year, with market bonus on top
• Signing bonuses are available and can reach the high $120k range depending on class year
