Job summary

Cavender’s is seeking an Associate Buyer in Tyler, TX to evolve from buying support into ownership of select categories. You will partner with Buyers, Planning, Allocation, E‑commerce, Marketing, and Store Operations to execute merchandising strategies, pricing, and inventory initiatives that drive sales, margin, and turns.

You will apply strong analytics, product judgment, and customer insights to recommend actions and progressively assume broader category ownership as performance and business

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Retail Merchandising, Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• 4+ years of progressive experience in Buying, Merchandising, Planning, Allocation, retail analytics, or a related retail function.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret data and make recommendations.
• Working knowledge of retail financial measurements (sales, GM, IMU, AUR, sell-through, inventory turn, markdowns).

Responsibilities

• Support buying strategies, assortment plans, pricing, and promotions for assigned categories.
• Independently manage defined portions of the assortment, including product selection and vendor follow‑up.
• Analyze sales and inventory metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Lead meetings and present recommendations to Merchandising leadership.
• Maintain data accuracy across purchase orders and item info.
