Hancock Daniel & Johnson, a nationally recognized healthcare law firm with more than 50 attorneys, seeks a Workers’ Compensation and Labor & Employment Associate Attorney to join our Abingdon, Virginia team. This on-site role offers hands-on experience across workers’ compensation and labor & employment matters, with mentorship from experienced colleagues.

You will advise and represent clients from initial assessment through resolution, participating in hearings and mediations, and collaborating

Qualifications

• Strong verbal communication, legal research, and writing skills are required.
• Client-centered approach with sound judgment and attention to detail.
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work with teams on complex matters.
• Experience or demonstrated interest in workers’ compensation and labor & employment law is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise and represent clients in workers’ compensation and labor & employment matters from initial assessment through resolution.
• Develop case strategy, draft pleadings, and participate in hearings and mediations as needed.
• Research workplace-law questions, draft position statements, and assist with investigations and employment-related disputes.
• Counsel employers on policies, compliance, and risk mitigation while growing client relationships.
