Job summary

The MFA Boston seeks the Ronald C. and Anita L. Wornick Assistant Curator of Contemporary Decorative Arts to shape exhibitions and gallery displays, and to deepen donor relationships.

You will manage installations for contemporary craft from 1955 to present, while growing scholarship and engaging with a global, transhistorical collection. Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Art History or related field with a focus on Contemporary Craft, Decorative Art, or Design.
• 3–5 years of curatorial experience in craft/decorative arts or design field.
• Proven research and publications; strong track record of exhibitions and visitor engagement.
• National and international perspectives; ability to cultivate donors and sponsors.

Responsibilities

• Develop, plan, and organize installations in permanent collection galleries.
• Propose and execute exhibition ideas; oversee related publications and labels.
• Advance the scope and role of contemporary craft within the wider collection.
• Engage with Boston communities and donors; collaborate across departments.
• Research, document the collection in TMS; arrange loans and acquisitions.
