BluePearl Pet Hospital in Levittown, PA is seeking an experienced Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our team. The schedule offers 3x12s or 4x10s with pay ranging from $22.15 to $43.00 per hour, plus competitive shift differentials.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will induce, monitor and recover anesthesia, triage emergencies, perform digital radiography, and monitor vitals. You will mentor staff and provide compassionate client communication.

Qualifications

• Emergency veterinary technician experience preferred.
• Ability to monitor anesthesia and patient vitals.
• Familiar with radiography and venous access procedures.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia using monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergencies and obtain vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Maintain knowledge of normal vital signs and interpret data.
• Monitor blood pressure and notify Veterinarian of changes.
• Identify at-risk patients and initiate CPR when needed.
• Perform medical math and administer medications as directed.
• Place IV catheters and perform phlebotomy.
• Place/maintain feeding tubes and central lines.
• Mentor and train co-workers; address client concerns with empathy.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Levittown, PA is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our thriving Emergency team!

Schedule:

3x12s or 4x10s

Pay:

$22.15 - $43.00 / hour + competitive shift differentials

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

For example:

• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.00 Shift Differential

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
