WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO

• Provide compassionate care to patients and customers.
• Perform nursing care tasks, monitor patients, and administer treatments.
• Accurately triage incoming patients using your understanding of diseases and physical assessments.
• Administer medications and understand their potential adverse effects.
• Set up and monitor intravenous fluid therapy, including blood transfusions.
• Contribute to outpatient and inpatient care as a team member.
• Participate in patient rounds for continuity of care.
• Be trained in CPR as a RECOVER Certified Rescuer.
• Collect samples, perform diagnostic tests, and assist with imaging.
• Assist in sedation and anesthesia procedures under supervision.
• Perform nursing care tasks like placing urinary catheters and maintaining oxygen therapy equipment.
• Work alongside licensed veterinary technicians and pursue additional training pathways for growth.

Veterinary Assistants may also, where permitted by law, perform advanced procedures such as vascular access, ultrasonography, and participate in treatment planning.
