Job summary

MedVet is a fast-growing Emergency and Specialty provider with practices nationwide. We are seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our clinical team.

You will support DVMs, monitor hospitalized patients, and help manage case rounds with a focus on safety and patient comfort. Ideal candidates have prior veterinary experience, strong numerical skills for medication calculations, and the ability to work flexibly in a high-demand setting.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience is required; emergency experience is desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions).
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.

We are looking for: Emergency Veterinary Assistant

What you’ll do:

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
