Job summary

Emergency Veterinary Care Centers in Michigan is seeking skilled, newly graduated Emergency Veterinarians for a structured mentorship program focused on building confidence and ER skills. You’ll work under a Medical Director and collaborate with a team of experienced veterinarians.

You will develop independent ER capabilities with ongoing support, hands-on guidance, and regular case rounds, while enjoying a supportive work environment and advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AVMA accredited Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program.
• Possesses state veterinary license in good standing or eligible to obtain one.
• Excellent problem-solving and ability to think quickly on your feet.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and compassionate bedside manner with clients and pets.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency veterinary care as part of a mentorship program.
• Work with DVM mentorship team to develop core ER skills.

EVCC is proud to offer a structured mentorship program designed for newly graduated veterinarians transitioning into emergency veterinary medicine. Our goal is to help you build confidence, develop critical ER skills, and feel fully supported as you grow into your role.

A BRAND-NEW HOSPITAL, LED BY A DOCTOR WHO'S INVESTED IN YOU

Our Saginaw location is brand new - purpose-built for emergency medicine, with all-new equipment and generous space to work without tripping over each other during a critical case.

You’ll be led by Dr. Darien McLemore, our hands-on Medical Director for Saginaw, with additional mentorship available from multiple Medical Directors across our hospital group and our Chief Veterinary Officer. Whichever stage of your career you’re at, there's real leadership support behind you.

You’ll also work alongside 15+ staff members bringing a combined 50+ years of veterinary experience, plus a high technician-to-DVM ratio that keeps your focus on patient care, diagnostics, and case investigation.

REPORTS TO: Emergency Veterinarian Medical Director

POSITION + PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Our new Saginaw location needs skilled, friendly and energetic newly graduated Emergency Veterinarians who strive for and achieve excellence in emergency veterinary medicine in the area.

Your mentorship experience at EVCC is personalized to your learning style, pace, and professional goals. We work closely with you to determine the appropriate timeline and workflow for your development.

MONTHS 1 - 4:

You’ll be scheduled exclusively with a core member of our DVM mentorship team. This period focuses on hands-on guidance, case discussions, foundational ER skills, and consistent support.

MONTHS 4 - 7:

Your schedule will transition into overlapping shifts with other associate DVMs. This collaborative phase helps you build relationships within the medical team and exposes you to a variety of clinical cases.

MONTHS 7 - 12:

As you gain confidence, your schedule will include a mix of solo and overlapping shifts to help you develop independence. Even during solo shifts, you will always have access to veterinarians working at other EVCC locations for real-time support.

• All schedules and timelines remain flexible and will be continually adjusted based on your individual needs. Progression decisions are made collaboratively between you and your mentor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
