Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group seeks an Emergency Veterinarian to care for pets in urgent conditions, including surgeries and exotics when needed. You will work in a fast-paced, mentorship-driven environment with access to ongoing education and VEG Education programs, plus a focus on growing your ER career.

You’ll be part of a team that handles routine to complex cases, including on-floor leadership and opportunities for advancement within a supportive culture.

Qualifications

• A DVM or equivalent degree is required.
• Emergency medicine and emergency surgery experience preferred.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
• Able to stand for long hours, lift up to 25 kg solo and 40 kg with assistance.
• Comfort with a noisy environment and strong odors.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone.
• See patients upon arrival as part of VEG Triage and VEG Spikes.
• Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and exam.
• Conduct physical exams and required diagnostics (ultrasound, X-ray, bloodwork, biopsies).
• Create a diagnostic and therapeutic plan from findings.
• Communicate diagnosis and options to customers.
• Prepare estimates and present them to customers.
• Maintain medical records with accuracy.
• Explain value of tests and treatments to clients.
• Perform emergency surgeries and endoscopic procedures.
• Educate customers on aftercare and prevention.
