Hello, it's nice to meet you! Pet Emergency and Trauma Services (PETS) is an independently-owned, owner-staffed, after-hours emergency veterinary hospital located in Kannapolis, North Carolina. Founded over 20 years ago as a collective of the area’s veterinarians, we are evolving and are striving to become a 24-hour emergency hospital - which means that we need you! Serving a diverse demographic from Cabarrus and surrounding counties requires a collaborative relationship with area general practitioners as well as referral and specialty centers. We recently moved into a new 7,000+ sq. ft building, fully equipped with in-house Idexx laboratory equipment, Sound digital X-ray system, GE Logiq V2 ultrasound, Engler ventilator, and more.

Job Description:
  • Practice emergency veterinary medicine independently, as well as work as a team member in cooperation with other veterinarians and staff.
  • Develop and communicate diagnostic and treatment plans for outpatient and inpatient care.
  • Manage hospitalized patients collaboratively.
  • Perform emergency soft tissue surgeries including abdominal exploratory, splenectomy, gastropexy, Cesarean section, and wound care.
  • Maintain excellent medical records to ensure continuity of care with referring veterinarians.
  • Work on a rotating schedule that includes daytime, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Compensation:

Job Requirements:
  • Ability to use a tongue depressor as a spork.
  • North Carolina State Veterinary License.
  • DEA license.
  • Previous emergency experience or a rotating internship preferred but not required.
  • Strong medical and soft tissue surgical skills.
  • An understanding, compassionate, yet resilient personality.
