Job summary

ACCESS San Fernando Valley is seeking an experienced ER Veterinary Technician for the day shift in Los Angeles, CA. You will support critical care, administer medications, monitor anesthesia, and assist with diagnostic procedures in a fast-paced hospital.

Compensation includes a total bonus opportunity up to $10,000 and a $5,000 sign-on plus $2,500 retention bonuses at 12 and 24 months. Requires 2–3 years clinical experience; AVMA program preferred. Growth through Thrive Pet Healthcare network.

Qualifications

• Licensed veterinary technician preferred with 2-3 years of clinical experience.
• AVMA-accredited program or equivalent education/experience.
• Strong clinical skills in ER veterinary care and anesthesia support.

Responsibilities

• Give accurate and detailed patient rounds.
• Admit and discharge a patient from the telemetry system.
• Administer oral medications to dogs or cats and manage IV meds.
• Place IV catheters in dogs and cats; monitor patency.
• Provide nursing care; keep patient bedding clean and comfortable.
• Calculate drug dosages and unit conversions (mg, ml, mcg, g).
• Prepare IV fluids and additives (e.g., KCl, Dextrose).
• Set up radiographs with proper positioning.
• Perform nebulization and coupage on patients.
• Monitor blood pressure and alert doctor as needed.
• Identify basic arrhythmias and plan treatment.
• Set up anesthesia machines and monitoring equipment.
• Collect and handle blood samples; perform blood typing as needed.
