Job summary

Arizona Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Center (AVECC) seeks an Assistant Medical Director to lead clinical care and medical operations at our Peoria and Buckeye locations. You will partner with the Medical Director and Hospital Director to drive clinical standards, mentor staff, and advance emergency veterinary medicine.

The role balances hands-on clinical work with leadership responsibilities, including policy development, staff coaching, and collaboration across the Ethos Veterinary

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree and Arizona license eligibility.
• Strong leadership and mentorship abilities.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver clinical veterinary care while balancing leadership duties.
• Oversee medical care with the Medical Director and Hospital Director.
• Develop and maintain medical policies and SOPs to ensure high-quality care and compliance.
• Provide mentorship and coaching to staff veterinarians and teams.
• Recruit, retain, and develop veterinarians with leadership input.
• Collaborate with hospital leadership to foster a positive team culture.
• Monitor patient safety and quality through reviews and audits.
• Support operational planning, budgeting, and service expansion.
