Brief Description

Emergency Vehicle Installer

Do you love wiring cars and lighting? Entry-level experience installing car radios, car alarms, body work, and more in a fast-paced shop or related experience? We are hiring full-time emergency vehicle installers at our new Garner, NC manufacturing facility. Primary responsibilities include installing, testing, repairing, and removing 12-volt law enforcement vehicle equipment, such as light bars, flashers, sirens, radios, speakers, antennas, routers, video cameras, laptops, printers, consoles, transport partitions, K-9 cages, and more. This involves working on new vehicles, upgrading existing vehicles, and servicing prior installs.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

  • Install emergency equipment into law enforcement vehicles
  • Remove and re-install OEM vehicle interior trim
  • Install electrical wiring, connect electrical fittings, drill holes, solder, and perform all physical tasks related to modifying vehicles for emergency equipment
  • Develop wiring routes throughout the vehicle for efficiency and future troubleshooting
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems as needed
  • Disassemble and reassemble various vehicle makes and models, including sedans, SUVs, motorcycles, ATVs
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area
  • Learn new products, skills, and techniques from colleagues and manufacturers
  • Assist with parts, shipping, receiving, and inventory
  • Complete all required paperwork and documentation
  • Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications & Skills

  • Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply; automotive wiring or related experience preferred
  • Must have the drive and aptitude to work safely with tools and auto wiring
  • Self-motivated, able to work under pressure, follow instructions, evaluate problems, prioritize tasks, and work well in small teams
  • Preferred: Experience installing into law enforcement vehicles

Working Conditions

  • Work inside and outside vehicles in a shop environment
  • Occasional local travel for pickups, deliveries, and installations
  • Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Some overtime or weekend hours may be required
