Job summary

LEHR, the nation’s premier provider of mission-critical vehicle upfitting, is seeking an Emergency Vehicle Installation Technician in Edison, NJ. You will work with a skilled team to customize vehicles with lights, cameras, computers, and 12V electrical systems, turning standard vehicles into mission-ready responders.

Entry-level candidates with hands-on experience and a mechanical aptitude are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Experience using hand tools and power tools.
• Automotive, mechanical, fabrication, or installation experience.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work around vehicles.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and on a team.
• Comfortable working with first responders and law enforcement agencies.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Remove factory-installed interior and exterior vehicle components
• Install emergency vehicle equipment, including light bars, sirens, speakers, push bumpers, partitions, and more
• Install cameras, computers, and license plate recognition systems
• Perform 12V electrical wiring and system installations
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean workspace
• Organize tools and inventory

As an Emergency Vehicle Installation Technician, you will work alongside a skilled team to customize vehicles with specialized equipment and technology. Compensation and Benefits:

• $20–$30 per hour based on experience
