Job summary

UCSD Health is seeking an ED Technician to join the Emergency Department team, assisting with vital signs, EKGs, ADLs, patient transport, comfort measures, and data documentation under RN supervision. You will support nurses and physicians with procedures and perform secretarial duties as needed.

Minimum qualifications include BART or BLS with plan to obtain within six months, at least six months in ED or similar setting, and demonstrated computer skills. EMT and/or CNA certification preferred.

Qualifications

• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
• Minimum six (6) months of experience in an emergency department, pre-hospital, acute care, or comparable settings.
• Demonstrated computer knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with vital signs, perform EKGs, assist in ADLs, stock supplies, transport patients, provide comfort measures, and assist with patient care under RN supervision.
• Collect and document patient care data; apply cardiac monitor devices; transport laboratory specimens; assist nurse and physician with procedures; perform secretarial duties as needed.
