Job summary

Commonwealth of VA Careers is seeking staff to stand by for call-in work to support storm preparation and snow removal activities. You will operate snow removal equipment and perform debris removal to keep roadways clear and safe.

Roles require the ability to work 12-hour shifts during emergencies and inclement weather, day or night, with safety shoes and a valid driver’s license. Training in emergency operations or snow removal is preferred.

Qualifications

• Heavy manual labor including standing, bending, and frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Preventative maintenance on diverse equipment.
• Day or night shifts to support emergency operations.
• Safety shoes required.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Emergency Operations: Assist and support operations for clearing snow and ice from roadways, applying abrasives and chemicals on road surfaces.
• Manual Labor: Perform heavy manual labor such as installing tire chains, plow blades, and debris removal.
• Perform duties as assigned.: Perform duties, tasks, activities and/or projects as assigned.
• Preventative Maintenance: Ability to perform preventative maintenance on equipment used during inclement weather to support emergency operations and clearing roadways.
