Qualifications

Responsibilities

• ensures efficient and effective responses to families experiencing homelessness, including assisting families on the ESF waitlist in identifying support systems and alternative housing options outside of emergency shelter
• maintains the ESF waitlist and conducts timely evaluation of Coordinated Entry System referrals for ESF, including gathering Additional Required Documentation For Entry
• completes guest intakes, orients families to the ESF, and facilitates exits to ESF
• addresses ESF facility maintenance, housekeeping, supply, and procedural concerns
• coordinates with the Housing Authority of Champaign County regarding facility needs and client referrals
• documents issues and provides all formal notices to ESF guests, and provides housing stability and housing navigation-focused case management

The Emergency Shelter for Families Coordinator supports a safe and welcoming environment at the Emergency Shelter for Families (ESF), a critical program where families with minor children can stay safely together while they pursue housing stabilization. Responsibilities

• ensures efficient and effective responses to families experiencing homelessness, including assisting families on the ESF waitlist in identifying support systems and alternative housing options outside of emergency shelter,


• maintains the ESF waitlist and conducts timely evaluation of Coordinated Entry System referrals for ESF, including gathering Additional Required Documentation For Entry,

• addresses ESF facility maintenance, housekeeping, supply, and procedural concerns,

Ideal Candidates Will Have

• mid- to high-level knowledge and experience in human social services, particularly with people impacted by homelessness;


• facilities management experience;


• ability to maintain a 24/7 on-call status and work a flexible schedule outside of traditional business hours to assist families at ESF, as needed;


• knowledge of housing continuums from shelter to home ownership in service area; and


• excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, public speaking, facilitation, partnership, and records management skills; and

Qualifications

• Ability to work outside of traditional business hours to accommodate program needs, including periodic early mornings, evenings, nights and weekends.


• Maintain a 24/7 on-call status to assist families at ESF, as needed.


• Valid drivers license and safe and reliable vehicle. Ability to transport clients using agency vehicles on occasion.


• Ability to visit clients in community-based sites in Champaign County (e.g., libraries, shelters, public building, etc.).


• Ability to follow program procedures while adjusting work style to meet the needs of the client.


• Knowledge of housing continuums from shelter to home ownership in service area.


• Proficient basic to advanced math skills to complete financial forms, develop reports and understand statistical data. Must use math in daily work tasks, such as calculating financial eligibility for services, determining level of subsidy assistance, and monitoring expenditures.


• Possess household budgeting skills.


• Knowledge of continuing education options including high school, trade, and college.


• Understands steps to implement to work toward gainful employment for individuals lacking employment history.


• Knowledge of public assistance programs, including eligibility and application process.


• Ability to attend community meetings, provide program information at community meetings, and collect and share relevant meeting information with team.


• Demonstrate excellent listening skills, presentation and public speaking skills, and the ability to share information with diverse audiences.


• Strong facilitation and partnership skills, including demonstrated ability to draft agendas, organize and lead meetings, and complete necessary follow up.


• Ability to handle program and client information in a confidential manner and report concerns as mandated.


• Ability to understand the vision, mission, and values of CCRPC and to implement in everyday work.


• Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles.


• Ability to follow written and oral instructions with minimum supervision.


• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and the ability to forge positive relationships with clients, co-workers, and colleagues.
