Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a Licensed Social Worker to serve as the Weekend House Social Worker at Scottish Rite Hospital, covering Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 PM to 8:30 AM. This role provides psychosocial assessments and discharge planning across ICU and Emergency Services, working autonomously while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.

Requires LMSW in Georgia; MSW from accredited program; hospital experience preferred with EPIC EMR familiarity.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work from an accredited graduate school.
  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in Georgia required
  • Experience in a hospital setting preferred, especially with children and families.
  • Experience with EPIC EMR system.

Responsibilities

  • Completes comprehensive psychosocial assessments to identify strengths and barriers across the continuum of care.
  • Assists patients and families in coping with illness, hospitalization, and end of life.
  • Assists families with discharge planning and ongoing medical care related to psychosocial needs.
  • Identifies safety concerns and acts as a liaison for child protective services where needed.
  • Documents and maintains updated patient information pertaining to services provided.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team activities and program initiatives.

Job Description

We’re seeking a Licensed Social Worker to serve as the Weekend House Social Worker at Scottish Rite Hospital on Saturdays and Sundays. In this pivotal role, you’ll provide coverage for the entire hospital, including Emergency Services and our inpatient ICUs. This is a unique opportunity to work autonomously, sharpen your clinical skills, and cross-train across multiple specialty areas. The position is every other weekend, with shifts from Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. Think you have what it takes? Experience
  • No minimum experience required, three years of experience in post graduate social work preferred
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a hospital setting, preferable the Emergency Department and/or with children and families
  • Experience with EPIC Electronic Medical Records system
Education

Master’s degree in social work from an accredited graduate school.

Certification Summary

Job Responsibilities
  • Completes comprehensive psychosocial assessments to identify strengths and potential barriers across the continuum of care as relates to patient health and wellbeing.
  • Assists patients and families in coping with illness, trauma, hospitalization, and end of life based on principles of growth and development, family systems, and cultural considerations.
  • Assists families and healthcare team in making plans for discharge and ongoing medical care and treatment related to psychosocial needs.
  • Assists families in accessing resources to achieve and/or maintain stabilization and self-sufficiency.
  • Assesses patients and families for safety, abuse, neglect concerns, and serves as the mandated reporter for hospital campuses or assigned service area to Child Protective Services and Adult Protective Services and Law Enforcement.
  • Provides information and acts as liaison for child protection, custody, supervision, visitation, and other safety needs on behalf of the family, interdisciplinary team, and community organizations.
  • Documents and maintains updated patient information pertaining to services provided.
  • Active participation in social work and system initiatives such as: supervision of master’s level social work student, completion of presentations/events (internal, community), special programs/project participation, committee participation (unit, department, system), critical shift/vacancy/FMLA coverage, onboarding/mentoring support, camp participation, department/system/unit volunteer support or training (bereavement, reunions, service of remembrance), superuser (Voalte, EPIC, Redcap, High Risk Screens), works independently with limited supervision, serving as a peer mentor or informal leader in the absence of onsite leadership.
