Job summary

UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center in Steamboat Springs, CO seeks an Emergency Technician to provide emergent care under supervision of physicians and RNs. This onsite PRN role supports the ER with IV access, specimen collection, wound care, and patient transport.

The incumbent will assist with procedures, monitor patients, report condition changes, and help manage patient flow in a fast-paced environment. Must hold EMT licensure with IV certification and BLS/CPR current.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED.
• Current State Licensure as an EMT with IV certification, or EMT-I.
• BLS Healthcare Provider certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
• Advanced CPI within 1 year

Responsibilities

• Performs technical procedures as delegated, including establishing IV access, collecting specimens, providing wound care, and transporting patients.
• May perform ECGs and vital statistics/telemetry monitoring.
• Assists physicians and nurses with performing medical procedures, including examinations, minor surgical interventions, orthopedic treatment, and resuscitation.
• Reports abnormal assessment findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to medical/nursing staff.
• Assists with patient flow and keeping patient rooms clean, stocked, and orderly.

Pay:$21.06 - $31.59 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

This position is an onsite role and does not offer a hybrid or remote option

Summary:
Provides emergent/urgent patient care under the direction of a physician, physician's assistant, and/or registered nurse.

Responsibilities:

• Performs technical procedures as delegated, including establishing IV access, collecting specimens, providing wound care, and transporting patients. May perform ECGs and vital statistics/telemetry monitoring.
• Assists physicians and nurses with performing medical procedures, including examinations, minor surgical interventions, orthopedic treatment, and resuscitation.
• Reports abnormal assessment findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to medical/nursing staff.
• Assists with patient flow and keeping patient rooms clean, stocked, and orderly.
• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
