The ED Bridge to Practice Program for New Graduates is designed to transform a graduate nurse’s professional development through a 9-month, evidenced-based nurse residency program. Registered Nurses will develop core competencies through lecture, discussion, and learner-paced modules, as well as precepted clinical experience. During this program, Registered Nurses will learn the fundamental principles of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry, Behavioral Health, Critical Care, and Emergency nursing through formalized classroom instruction and clinical experience with a preceptor.
Our ED Nurse residency program is designed to develop a skilled and competent Emergency Nurse. Internal candidates and external applicants must graduate from an approved nursing program with an AAS degree (required), BSN (preferred).
Minimum Education: Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred.
Minimum Experience: Nine months’ Medical-Surgical, Critical Care, Emergency, or Progressive Care experience required. For the ED New Grad Residency program, new graduates with no experience will enter the 9-month Residency Program to meet the experience requirement.
Required Certification/Registration: Currently licensed and registered in NY State to practice as a registered professional nurse. On hire, a valid Basic Life Support course completion card must be presented.
Special duties positions are assignments that are completed by senior Emergency Nurses and require additional training and experience.
Position will primarily be medium to light work requiring lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Position requires 20% sitting and 80% standing or walking.
Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated or ventilated facility. No routine exposure to hazards. Position may have occasional exposure to blood, body substances, infectious materials, chemical hazards, vibration, radiation, slippery surfaces, or noise.
