Job summary

The City of Norfolk is seeking an Emergency Services Counselor I to assess individuals in crisis and link them to needed mental health services in the least restrictive setting. The role covers crisis stabilization for both adults and children and requires collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.

Two years of supervised experience in mental health services is required, along with a Master's or Doctoral licensure.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctoral Degree with licensure (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, LCP, PMHNP/PMHCNS, MD/DO, or RN with five years' experience).
• Two years supervised experience in directly providing mental health services.
• Must have or obtain LMHP licensure with the first 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assess individuals in crisis to provide or link to mental health services in the least restrictive setting.
• Provide crisis and/or community stabilization activities and services.
• Respond in person and/or by phone to requests for assistance with behavioral health crises.
• Serve both adults and children across pre-crisis, crisis, post-crisis, and stabilization points.
• Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team and monitor pre-admission screenings by non-licensed personnel.
