Job description

Cabinet Peaks Medical Center is seeking an Advanced Practitioner (PA-C/FNP) to join our Emergency Department.

Job Overview

The provider conducts comprehensive history and physical exams for patients with acute and chronic non-critical conditions. Responsibilities include identifying differential diagnoses, assessing illness severity, prioritizing care, developing treatment plans, and providing follow-up care. The role involves communicating patient information to primary or consulting providers, educating patients about diagnoses and treatments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, obtaining consent for procedures, performing treatments and procedures, and exercising prescriptive authority as per Montana statutes. Accurate documentation, confidentiality adherence per HIPAA, and staying current with best practices are essential.

Major Job Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Document and dictate patient care records accurately and promptly.
  2. Establish diagnoses through physical exams and appropriate diagnostic testing.
  3. Develop safe follow-up care plans and clear discharge instructions.
  4. Apply splints, perform wound care, and repair lacerations.
  5. Treat patients respectfully in line with the CPMC mission: "Quality, Compassionate Care."
  6. Communicate effectively with staff for optimal patient care and department flow.
  7. Perform procedures and treatments competently with minimal guidance.
  8. Conduct comprehensive histories, review medical records, and order appropriate diagnostic studies.
  9. Perform complete physical examinations and record data accurately.
  10. Make diagnoses, initiate therapy, or refer patients as needed.
  11. Interpret patient data to guide management and treatment.
  12. Provide medical care instructions and guidance to patients.
  13. Work independently and collaboratively as required for patient care and department efficiency.
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of suture techniques and wound management.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical treatments for various conditions.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic interpretation skills.
  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records.
  • Ability to thoroughly document evaluations and review systems.
Educational Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program.
  • MT state NP or PA licensure.
  • DEA Number.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS certifications.
  • NRP preferred.
Experience
  • At least two years of experience as a mid-level provider in an urgent care or emergency department setting, caring for patients across all age groups preferred.
