Job Summary: Geisinger is proud to offer an Emergency Room Technician I position with a $1500 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates, a minimum hiring rate of $15.76 with increased rates for experienced individuals, and up to $3 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. We are also offering up to $40,000 in financial support to become a nurse.

Job Duties:

  • Performs basic patient care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, maintaining the patient care and unit environment according to policies and procedures.
  • Meets qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range of their clinical area.
  • Promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.
  • Triages patient care by identifying, observing, and documenting physical needs.
  • Reports changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse.
  • Assists with procedures such as wound care, splinting, and EKGs.
  • Provides patient care related to rehabilitation and multidisciplinary care plans.
  • Performs unit desk clerk functions when needed.
  • Obtains and maintains specimens as per policy and physician orders.
  • Uses two patient identifiers with proper labeling.
  • Performs blood glucose monitoring, urine and stool testing, and assists with specimen transport.
  • Transports patients and medications within the hospital, including blood products.
  • Assists patients with daily activities and positioning.
  • Manages non-controlled medication storage and transport as needed.
  • Coordinates between care providers, patients, and visitors.
  • Creates a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.

Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Employees are accountable for meeting job obligations and complying with policies. Additional department-specific competencies will be outlined during orientation.

Position Details:

  • Full-time, Evening/Overnight (36 hours/week)
  • 3 - 12 hour shifts from 7pm to 7:30am
  • Every other weekend and holiday rotation required

Education: High School Diploma or GED (Required)

Experience: Relevant experience preferred

Certification: Basic Life Support Certification required
