Job Summary

As the leader of the health care team, provides professional nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures. Demonstrates performance consistent with the Medical Center Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan of the organization. Remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats co-workers, patients, families, and all members of the health care team with dignity and respect.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Leadership:
    • Upholds Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable laws.
    • Serves as a leader, delegates tasks appropriately, and demonstrates accountability.
    • Understands scope of practice, escalates issues, champions new ideas, and leads change.
    • Utilizes communication strategies effectively, participates in problem-solving, mentors others, and shares responsibility and authority.
    • Problem solves with other departments to resolve issues, and supervises work to ensure patient care activities are completed.
  2. Nursing Process:
    • Develops and contributes to individualized care plans, ensuring multidisciplinary input and timely discussions with patients and families.
    • Monitors patient progress, revises care plans as needed, and ensures standards of practice are met.
    • Coordinates discharge planning, ensuring patient understanding and addressing barriers to care.
    • Focuses on patient safety, pain management, and patient education regarding medications and procedures.
  3. Patient Care Experience:
    • Practices customer service standards, promptly responds to patient requests, maintains confidentiality, and ensures a clean work environment.
    • Provides respectful, compassionate care, actively listens, and ensures patient understanding and satisfaction.
  4. Team Commitment:
    • Acts as an effective team member, handles conflicts constructively, and accepts feedback.
    • Mentors new staff, participates in professional development, and supports a collaborative environment.
  5. Fiscal Responsibility:
    • Minimizes overtime, identifies system improvements, and utilizes resources efficiently.
