Job summary

HCA Healthcare Summerville Hospital in Ridgeland, SC is seeking an Emergency Room Registered Nurse to coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with physicians and care teams.

The RN will use established nursing models to assess, perform, teach, and manage care, advocate for patients and families, and support the hospital’s mission to enhance clinical outcomes and patient experience. The role requires licensure and BCLS/ACLS readiness within set timeframes.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• 1 year applicable experience.
• Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty.
