Job summary

TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center is seeking a PRN Emergency Room Nurse to join our fast-paced team. The RN provides high-quality, patient-centered care in the ER, collaborating with physicians and staff to manage pain, treatments, and discharge planning.

You will educate patients and families on conditions, medications, and follow-up care, while maintaining documentation accuracy and patient advocacy. Required qualifications include 1+ year ER experience and active ACLS/BCLS, PALS, and TNCC

Qualifications

• ER registered nurse with at least 1 year of ER experience.
• ACLS, BCLS, PALS, TNCC, and crisis intervention certifications required or must be obtained within specified timelines.
• Strong patient-centered care and collaboration with care teams.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management and reassess after intervention.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider; documents care in the medical record.
• Responds promptly to patient requests and anticipates needs to provide exceptional care.
• Teaches patients, families, and caregivers about conditions, plan of care, medications, side effects, and follow-up measures; translates medical terminology for understanding.
• Educates on non-medicinal follow-up measures, diet, exercise, prevention, and self-management.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

What qualifications you will need:

***1+ Years of ER RN Experience Required!***

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
• Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date

TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center is a 159-bed facility providing quality healthcare to Sumner and surrounding counties for more than 45 years.
