Note: EMT-Basics do not meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Applicants must be certified as an EMT-Advanced, EMT-Intermediate, or Paramedic.
Under the supervision of a licensed independent practitioner, manager, and/or Registered Nurse, in accordance with the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Nursing delegation and supervision guidelines, assists with various direct and indirect patient care activities. These include:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. An associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical program in paramedic studies is preferred.
Experience: One year of EMT-A, EMT-I, or Paramedic experience is preferred.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Certified in the State of Virginia as an EMT-Advanced, EMT-Intermediate, or EMT-Paramedic (required) and maintains National Registered status (preferred). AHA BLS - HCP and ACLS are required. PALS, HazMat Awareness, NRP, and PHTLS or BTLS are required within one year from the date of hire.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Must maintain continuing education hours to meet re-certification standards as required by State and National regulations.
