Job description

We are hiring a full-time Environmental Project Manager to plan, coordinate, and execute hazardous materials response and environmental remediation projects in the Omaha, NE metro area. The Environmental Project Manager oversees field crews, manages project timelines and budgets, ensures regulatory compliance, and serves as the primary point of contact for clients and agencies on assigned projects. Base salary: $72,800 per year; billable overtime earnings average approximately 40% above base annually.

Key Responsibilities - Environmental Project Manager
  • Plan, schedule, and manage hazardous materials response, spill remediation, industrial cleaning, and confined space entry projects from mobilization through closeout
  • Supervise and direct field crews on active job sites; enforce HAZWOPER safety protocols, PPE compliance, and site-specific health and safety plans
  • Prepare and submit all required project documentation, regulatory agency reports, and client deliverables accurately and on schedule
  • Monitor project budgets, track billable hours and materials, and communicate scope changes or cost variances to leadership promptly
  • Serve as primary client contact on assigned projects; coordinate with regulatory agencies including EPA, OSHA, and NDEQ as required
Qualifications - Environmental Project Manager
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in environmental services, hazardous materials operations, industrial services, or a related field operations role
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to pass MVR, background, and pre-employment and ongoing drug/alcohol screenings
  • Ability to work 40+ hours per week including on-call availability and travel to project sites as required
  • Must be able to read, speak, and understand English; strong written communication skills for regulatory and client reporting
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in environmental science, occupational health, or related field preferred
Preferred Qualifications - Hazmat Project Manager / Environmental Operations Manager
  • HAZWOPER 40-hour certification (29 CFR 1910.120) or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Experience managing confined space entry, industrial tank cleaning, or environmental remediation projects
  • Working knowledge of EPA, OSHA, DOT, and NDEQ hazardous materials and waste regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office for project tracking, reporting, and client communication
  • CDL or prior experience operating response vehicles and field equipment
Physical Requirements - Environmental Project Manager
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move drums and materials; operate shovels, pressure washing equipment, and field instruments in active job site conditions
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at elevated heights in industrial environments
  • Must be able to wear and work in respiratory protection equipment; clean-shaven where respirator seal is required per OSHA 1910.134
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and in confined spaces on active industrial job sites
  • Regular travel to project sites and emergency response locations throughout the Omaha metro and surrounding region required
