Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must possess a valid Class B Texas driver's license or obtain within six months.
• Must possess a valid Social Security Card.
• Texas Commission on Fire Protection - Basic Structural Firefighter certification.
• Texas Department of State Health Services - EMT-Basic certification.
• National Wildfire Coordinating Group S-130/S-190 and L-180 or TCFP equivalents.
• NIMS IC-100, IC-200, IS-700 and IS-800.
• Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
• Background investigation and oral interview.

Responsibilities

• Drives apparatus; operates pumps and firefighting equipment.
• Performs hose operations, salvage, overhaul, ladders, for­cible entry and ventilation.
• Operates hydraulic tools and rescue equipment.
• Performs high-angle rope and confined-space rescues.
• Participates in incident command system and may assume command.
• Responds to medical calls and provides pre-hospital care.
• Maintains communications equipment and station generators.
• Cleans, inspects and maintains apparatus, equipment and facilities.
• Keeps records on maintenance, testing and inspections.
• Prepares incident documentation and operates radios/computers.
