Job summary

Cincinnati Children’s, Crestview Hills, KY, is seeking a part-time Clerical Associate to support Revenue Cycle, HIM and regulatory processes. The role involves data entry, patient registration and coordination of front desk activities in a busy clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Supports the Revenue Cycle, Health Information Management, and Regulatory by ensuring data, information and forms are entered into the proper system and communicates system issues to management.
• Completes and authenticates documents and questionnaires to ensure regulatory compliance (JCAHO, CMS, ODH).
• Ensures patient safety by identifying the correct patient, noting special needs, and applying isolation precautions for infectious indicators.
• Assists with patient registration and documentation for admission, scheduling, discharge and short stays; coordinates front desk and unit flow with staff.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and restricts access to information needed to perform the role.

Job Responsibilities

• Systems & Process - Supports the Revenue Cycle, Health Information Management, and Regulatory by ensuring that the necessary data, information and forms are obtained and accurately entered into the appropriate system. Talks to management to explain system errors or to recommend changes to the system.


• Compliance - Completes and authenticates all documents and questionnaires that ensure compliance with regulatory agencies (JCAHO, CMS, ODH)


• Safety - Ensures patient safety by identifying the correct patient. identifying special needs, and preparing isolation precautions for patients who have Infectious Disease indicators.


• Patient Responsibility - Responds to communication systems/patient alarms and executes with a sense of urgency. Ensures that within the division, all areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective, and efficient environment for patients, families, visitors, and employees. Maintains awareness of patient location and monitors traffic flow at front desk and on the unit. Reports maintenance (wiping down monitors, troubleshooting printer issues, logging off information, etc.) and environmental service needs to appropriate division and follows up to ensure completion. Collaborates with clinical, admitting information systems, and environmental services staff to coordinate efficient patient flow. Provides assistance and services to patients, families, staff and external agencies in the accurate completion of patient registration and documentation for admission, scheduling, discharge, and short stay. Investigates and resolves customer requests, questions or problems according to CCHMC policies and procedures. Contacts outside representatives to request information or assistance in resolving problems.


• Patient Information - Maintains confidentiality, protects and safeguards patient/family personal medical and financial information at all times during collection, use and storage. Access only information and records necessary to perform the responsibilities of the position.
