Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a clinician to provide crisis counseling and psychiatric evaluation for patients in the emergency department. The role requires a graduate-level degree (Masters) in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling with licensure eligibility (LICSW/LMHC/LMFT).

Qualifications

• Graduation and training from an accredited graduate (Masters) program such as Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, etc.
• License (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT) eligible.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis counseling and evaluation for patients in the emergency departments.
• Complete initial assessments, counseling, case presentations to the treatment team, treatment planning, inpatient bed search, insurance authorization, and aftercare planning.
• Determine the need for psychiatric consultation and follow up services; make referrals to levels of care.
• Complete all documentation and paperwork specific to the department and in compliance with hospital requirements.
• Prioritize acuity and manage patient flow which may include consultations and collateral contact.
• Maintain licensure and credentialing necessary for specific role.
