Job summary

East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL seeks a qualified clinician to perform psychiatric assessments for ED patients and collaborate with the on-call Psychiatrist to determine dispositions. The role involves interfacing with families, DHR, outpatient services, and Probate Courts as needed.

The PAC will coordinate referrals from other health facilities and community agencies, working closely with RN staff and the Psychiatry team to ensure seamless care.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in counseling, social work, or psychology.
• Preferred Education: A Clinical Masters degree in a field of human services.
• Preferred Experience: Experience interviewing patients.
• Preferred Registration/License/Certification: N/A

Responsibilities

• Upon ED physician request, complete psychiatric assessments on patients in the ED.
• Staff each case with the on-call Psychiatrist and formulate appropriate dispositions.
• Interface with families, DHR, outpatient providers, and local Probate Courts.
• Coordinate referrals from outside facilities and staff with RN and Psychiatrist.
