Job summary

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking an experienced Engineer to contribute to KS Emergency Preparedness, ensuring compliance with DOE Order 151.1D and coordinating with the Emergency Response Organization. The role offers field and office work with opportunities to benchmark practices at other program sites.

You will work with KS leadership to develop requirements, present updates, and help plan major exercises, leveraging prior project management and presentation skills in a nuclear safety

Job Description

The Kesselring Site Emergency Preparedness (EP) Unit is seeking an experienced Engineer to contribute to KS' non-nuclear/non-radiological hazard preparedness in partnership with our Emergency Response Organization (ERO). This role will be critical to maintaining site emergency response readiness and mitigation efforts, with a strong focus on complying with the program's implementation of DOE Order 151.1D. This position works to manage the KS compliance of program requirements regarding non-nuclear/non-radiological hazards in coordination and alignment with representatives from the other NNL DOE sites. This role offers opportunities to gain experience in the incident command field, have a mix of office and field work, and chances to benchmark practices at other Program sites.

As part of this role, the selected candidate will be responsible for KS' compliance to the program requirements stemming from the implementation of DOE Order 151.1D, this includes major site deliverables such as the Annual Stakeholders Preparedness Report and tri-annual Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment. You will have the opportunity to work directly with multiple leaders across site from both the Site and ERO leadership teams in order to develop and clarify requirements and provide update briefs to major items. You will help develop and evaluate major exercises for KS ERO, working with the rest of the EP unit along the way.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or Currently an Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

Pay Range

$106,200.00 - $166,000.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Eligibility and Background

All candidates must be U.S. citizens. Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. FMP is a government contractor and maintains a drug-free workplace and workforce. All candidates must be able to pass a drug test in compliance with FMP company policy and 10 CFR 707. Marijuana is a Federal Schedule I controlled substance and illegal under Federal Law. Therefore, FMP is required to test for marijuana.
