University of Texas at Austin is seeking an Emergency Systems Technician on the UT Main Campus to perform journey-level skills in emergency generators and standby electrical systems. You will maintain drawings and control circuitry, test equipment, and participate in on-call activities to ensure readiness.

Candidates should have five years of related experience and a strong emphasis on safety, teamwork, and reliable service in a large university utilities environment.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED.
• Five years of experience as a journey-level repair and maintenance of natural gas and diesel generators, electrical, industrial, mechanical or utility distribution equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to work well within a team environment. Demonstrated effective interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs scheduled corrective and routine maintenance of electrical emergency systems.
• Coordinates and monitors repairs by support groups or contractors.
• Determines the need for equipment upgrades and maintains drawings and control system circuitry.
• Tests and evaluates equipment to ensure operation readiness and participates in the on-call program.
• Trains personnel on operational and maintenance procedures as required.
